NTUNHS Service Learning Scholarship

 ※Applicants for this scholarship should seek on-campus service opportunities on their own.

Application deadline Applications are accepted two times a year. Submit the required documents to NTUNHS Office of Research and Development’s International and Cross-strait Education Center.
First application period: Sept.~ Oct.
Second application period: Feb. ~Mar.
Eligibility Applicants must be officially enrolled overseas students in possession of a work permit who have not received any form of demerit (This includes international students, overseas Chinese students, students from Hong Kong and Macau). Exchange students, recipients of service-learning scholarships, and students with delayed graduation are not eligible to apply.) Applicants must fulfill the following requirements:
  1.  Undergraduate students must have taken a minimum of six credits every semester and have earned an average grade higher than 70 in the previous academic year. For students who have been enrolled less than one academic year, their average grade during their final year at the highest education level completed must be equivalent to 70 or higher.
  2. Graduate students must take at least one course every semester in addition to achieving an average grade of 80 or higher in their most recent academic year. For graduate students who have been enrolled for less than one academic year, their average grade during their final year at the highest education level completed must be equivalent to 80 or higher.
  3. International Foundation Program and other students who have not obtained the formal course grade may use the Chinese course grade in the preceding semester for application.
Required documents
  • A completed scholarship application form
  • An original copy of their latest transcript
  • An autobiography
  • One recommendation letter from the applicant’s department supervisor or a professor
  • A copy of their work permit
  • An enrollment letter
Rights and duties of the scholarship recipients

Rights: 

  • Scholarship amount (Scholarships for the preceding month will be paid by the middle of the following month):
    • graduate student is 8,000NTD per month.
    • undergraduate student is 5,000NTD per month.
Duties:
  • Recipients are obligated to participate in a service learning project.
  • Hours of service:
    • graduate students are required to perform 30 hours of work per month
    • undergraduates are required to perform 20 hours of work per month 
The number of scholarships issued will be adjusted on a yearly basis depending on the annual
Scholarship period and eligibility limits (1) Once approved, the scholarship period lasts for one semester (four months). A separate application is required for each semester. (Graduating students may receive the scholarship only up to the month they graduate.)
(2) Undergraduate students are eligible to receive the scholarship for a maximum of four years, masters students may receive the scholarship for a maximum of two years, and doctoral students for a maximum of three years.
(3) This scholarship is funded by the Ministry of Education’s Higher Education Program.
Cancellation or termination of scholarship (1) During the period of time in which the student receives the scholarship, any demerits will result in cancellation of the scholarship starting from the date of the demerit. The student will be ineligible for further scholarships.
(2) Scholarships will be terminated if the student does not complete enrollment registration procedures, if the student applies for transfer, or is subject to suspension or expelled. In this situation, the scholarship will then be given to the next eligible student on the waiting list. Upon confirmation of falsified or forged information, the scholarship is revoked and all scholarship payments received must be returned.
Rules on receiving multiple scholarships (1) Recipients of this scholarship are prohibited from receiving other scholarships from other departments, the International Cooperation and Development Fund, and any other full scholarships (“full ” being defined as full tuition and monthly living expenses of 10,000NTD or more).
(2) If it is proven that a student is receiving multiple scholarships, this scholarship is cancelled and all previous scholarship payments must be returned.

NTUNHS International Student Scholarship

 

Application deadline

1. New students: Applications open from May 1st to May 30th each year.

2. Senior students: Applications open from June 1st to June 30th each year (subject to the latest announcement.

Eligibility Applicants must be officially enrolled overseas students
Required documents

New students(master) :

  • A completed Scholarship Application Form
  • Academic year transcript: A minimum GPA of 3.4 (on a 4.0 scale), or a grade of 80 or equivalent.
  • Any academic distinctions or honors you have received
  • The Admission offer letter from NTUNHS

New students(PhD): 

  • A completed Scholarship Application Form
  • Academic year transcript: A minimum GPA of 3.4 (on a 4.0 scale), or a grade of 80 or equivalent.
  • Proof of published research in a journal/ Any academic distinctions or honors you have received
  • The Admission offer letter from NTUNHS

Senior students:

  • A completed Scholarship Application Form
  • Academic year transcript: the student must obtain an overall grade of 87 or higher in the first year of study in NTUNHS.

  • Study Plan
  • Recommendation letter

Scholarship amount

Master:

1. Tuition waiver of 50% for 1 academic year (2 semesters).
2. Stipend of NTD$20000/month

PhD:

1. Tuition waiver of 50% for 1 academic year (2 semesters).
2. Stipend of NTD$25000/month。

Scholarship period and eligibility limits At most, scholarship recipients may receive scholarships for 2 years.
The recipient must reapply and meet the eligibility requirements in the second year.
Cancellation or termination of scholarship 1. The scholarship would be started to provide after you already arrived in Taiwan, and finished the registration process at NTUNHS (The time of acquisition would depend on the progress of the school's accounting and cash flow processes).
2. If you receive a full scholarship from the Taiwan government during your period of study, this scholarship will be auto-deleted.

The Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC ) Learning assistance grant 


"This learning assistance grant is sponsored by the The Overseas Community Affairs Council (OCAC ) and is intended to provide financial support to financially disadvantaged overseas Chinese students (including Hong Kong and Macau students) studying in Taiwan, alleviating their economic difficulties during they studying in Taiwan to ensure they can focus on their studies. Therefore, priority will be given to financially disadvantaged or students in need of assistance among overseas Chinese students (including Hong Kong and Macau students). Students who receive this grant will be required to assist the school in organizing enrollment activities, talent matching consultations, life counseling, educational guidance, or career guidance, and other related matters. If you are interested in applying for this grant, please prepare the necessary documents within the specified deadline (as per the latest announcement) and submit them to the International Center."

Application deadline From now until 5:00 PM on Oct 6, 2023, please submit the application form and documents to the International and Cross-Strait Education Center.

  2. Priority is given to financially disadvantaged or students in need of assistance.
