About International Foundation Program

Introduction 

The National Taipei University of Nursing and Health Sciences (NTUNHS) is Taiwan's first institute of higher learning for nursing and health related studies. The University is not only a pioneer in the domain of nursing and health care but also the sole institution offering a doctoral nursing program among the vocational education system in Taiwan. NTUNHS was founded in 1954 as the Taiwan Provincial Junior College of Nursing. In 1963, the college merged with the Taipei Senior Vocational School of Medicine, founded in 1947, to become a five-year junior college, the Taiwan Provincial Vocational School of Nursing and Midwifery. In 1981 the college became the National Taipei Nursing College and was reformed again to become the National Taipei College of Nursing in 1994. Finally, in August 2010, the Ministry of Education approved the school's new name, the "National Taipei University of Nursing and Health Sciences," in recognition of the school's outstanding and continuing pedagogical achievements. The university has four colleges: the College of Nursing, the College of Health Technology, and the College of Human Development and Health, as well as the Smart Healthcare Interdisciplinary College. 

Academic

The University is a high-quality vocational institute that aims become a focal point for health care knowledge and a training center for Taiwan's next generation of health care professionals.

About This Program

This Program will train students to become practitioners, operators, policymakers, and policy enforcers. It prepares relevant teaching and research talent for long-term care and cultivates the following skills:

(1) Consolidate long-term care related basic, professional, and advanced knowledge, and provide professional services, teaching and study.

(2) Enhance students' self-learning and research skills.

(3) Supervise and manage long-term care cases and organizations.

(4) Emphasize the importance of both theoretical and practical models of education.

(5) Plan and promote long-term care related policies and laws, and systems.

 

This program is a 3-year International Foundation Program approved by Ministry of Education in Taiwan and the course structure consists of two parts, the Chinese Preparatory Course as well as the Bachelor Degree Program.  In the first year, students must take Chinese Preparatory Course in advance and enter the Bachelor of Long-Term Care Program only if they pass TOCFL A2 level. Students are encouraged and urged to pass TOCFL B1 level during their 2nd academic year.  Students will receive subsidies for Chinese Preparatory Course from Ministry of Education and could apply for the Entrepreneur Scholarship during their study period.  After graduate from this program, students are eligible to work in the field of Long-term care industries to start their career in Taiwan.
